Day de Dada Mail Art Workshop with The Sticker Dude

December 10, 2023

Day de Dada Mail Art Workshop: Who, What, Where is Home? with Special Guest – The Sticker Dude

Dada de Dada hosted a Mail Art Workshop in the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art on December 10, 2023, as part of the exhibition “Dada in the House: 20 Years in Staten Island.” At this hands-on workshop, we invited visitors to explore Mail Art, a fun and expressive art form. Supplies and guidance were provided to help map, describe, create, and send Mail Art about personal concepts of Home.

Special Guest The Sticker Dude, Joel has been exchanging mail art since the mid 1980’s. Joel collects, creates, and solicits artwork, puns, and aphorisms – the visual and verbal symbols surrounding us. He strips them of their old context and supplies a new one. As a professional printer, he reproduces them in quantity in readily accessible media and distributes them as freely and personally as possible. Joel’s work also includes musical and multimedia performance art.

DADA IN THE HOUSE is made possible through generous support from the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
DADA IN THE HOUSE is made possible by a DCLA Art Fund Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
